Commissioner recovers after hospital stay
Originally published November 10, 2009

Frederick County Commissioner Charles Jenkins hopes to return to Winchester Hall soon, following surgery.

Jenkins, 46, missed meetings last week because he was in the hospital. Meckel's diverticulitis, a rare abnormality he's had since birth, but was undiagnosed, caused him to develop an abscess on his intestine, he said.

A full recovery is expected four to six weeks after surgery.

He's already trying to catch up, spending Monday watching interviews for an open fire and rescue position that took place while he was in the hospital.

Jenkins said he wants to get back to work, hopefully today, because the commissioners have some issues that "need decision-making."
