POOLESVILLE -- Maryland School for the Deaf capped another undefeated football season and laid claim to another national deaf prep championship with a 54-7 thumping of Poolesville on Friday.

The Orioles (11-0) should get official word of being named national deaf prep champion soon.

There is no national championship game. Determination of the championship is done by poll.

Friday's victory also extends the Orioles' winning streak to 28 games. MSD has not been beaten since a 30-28 overtime loss to Avalon School in 2005.

MSD won Friday's game in typical fashion, a powerful running game led by Ryan Bonheyo and a harassing defense. Bonheyo led all rushers with 192 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. Both of his TD's came in the second quarter on runs of 57 and 46 yards.

The lone Poolesville touchdown came on the opening play of the second quarter, when Jonathan Gray scored on a 25-yard run and Daniel Camillo kicked the extra point, pulling the Falcons within 8-7. But, on the first play from scrimmage following the Poolesville kickoff, Bonheyo scored on his 57-yard run and the Falcons never threatened after.

MSD tried and recovered an onside kick following a 7-yard touchdown run by Mark Korn at the end of the third quarter that put the Orioles up, 48-7. Two plays later, Bonheyo threw an 11-yard TD pass on an option play.

Friday's game went into running time after the Korn touchdown.

Joseph Solano rushed for 91 yards on five carries for MSD. Gray led Poolesville in rushing with 72 yards on 16 carries.

Bonheyo also threw a touchdown pass to Kevin Berrigan in the fourth quarter. Berrigan caught two TD passes. He also caught a 57-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brandon McMillan in the second quarter.

McMillan completed 2-of-6 passes for 101 yards.
