Mark Gaver strolled along Carroll Creek Park in downtown Frederick and pointed enthusiastically at the surroundings when he considers the potential for economic development.
Mayor Randy McClement appointed Gaver to represent the community’s interests on a committee exploring ways to get a 200-room hotel and conference center built within walking distance of downtown. The hotel conference center could serve as a bridge between the eastern edge and center of the city, Gaver said.
A preliminary study of the idea identified six sites with potential to serve the purpose.
Carroll Creek figures prominently in the report’s assessment. The hotel would benefit from access to the waterfront.
Although the report identified only six likely sites, Gaver said there could be others. His committee will advertise to get input from the public.
“Maybe more sites are out there,” Gaver said. “We’d like to hear from them.” Click here to read the full story. | Post/Read Comments.
