"The card is in the mail" is an old, increasingly outdated expression. The United States Postal Service is amending it and trying to shore up the relevance of its post offices to American consumers in the process. The new slogan: "The card is in the mail, and I purchased it at the post office." Plus, it's a Hallmark card -- the kind you send "when you care enough to send the very best."
