My friend Kim recently graduated college and moved to Maryland from Alabama. As the only child of an overprotective and doting mother, she receives a lot of phone calls and bribes to move back home. Last fall, before Kim changed her car plates and vehicle contact information, her mom called and informed Kim that she had received mail from the Maryland DMV. Kim had accidentally ran a red light and been caught by a camera. They sent a ticket and pictures of her in the act to her Alabama address still linked to the car. Kim braced herself for the stern words and warnings that never came. “Honey! I can see you in the picture!” her mom exclaimed with joy, “I can see you! Isn't that cool you're in the picture?” She didn’t mention a thing about the red light.
