The new slogan: "The card is in the mail, and I purchased it at the post office." Plus, it's a Hallmark card -- the kind you send "when you care enough to send the very best."

20 Years Ago Supervised group homes could fill a gap in the demand for housing among Frederick County’s elderly population, a state Office on Aging representative said Monday. “We stress that it’s an option. It’s not an answer for everyone,” John Lessner, of the Office on Aging’s Housing Division, told the Frederick County Commission on Aging. No charges were filed Monday against a Frederick County man in connection with the shooting death of his son early Saturday at their Walter Martz home. A Frederick man arrested Monday by Frederick City Police in Operation “Crack” Down pleaded guilty 12 days ago to distributing cocaine.
50 Years Ago A record number of adults to date have taken advantage of the free chest x-rays offered by the Frederick County Health Department and the Frederick County Tuberculosis and Public Health Association in the current mass x-ray survey project. Mrs. Freda S. Doll, executive secretary of the Tuberculosis group, said today that the number being x-rayed has averaged 300 a day. Aerojet-General Corporation officially opened its new building facility for the Atlantic Division plant at ceremonies held on Friday afternoon. The new building nearly triples the present plant capacity. Sleet and hail was reported throughout a major portion of the county last night as a cold spell dropped the mercury nearly 40 degrees in the last 24 hour period.
