Urbana man kills ex, 3 kids and self Gail Pumphrey and Children

David Peter Brockdorff, 40, of Urbana met his ex-wife Gail Pumphrey, 43, of Woodbine, in Unity Park near Laytonsville in Montgomery County about 4:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day to exchange custody of their three children: David, 12; Megan, 10; and Brandon, 6.

During the custody exchange, Brockdorff shot Pumphrey and their children multiple times before taking his life, according to Montgomery County Police.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore said Brockdorff shot himself twice -- once in the chest and once in the head.
