At least 30,000 people will visit Gettysburg during the 144th anniversary of the battle.
In July 1913, over 50,000 Union and Confederate veterans held a reunion at Gettysburg National Military Park to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the battle.
According to Department of Defense statistics, 2.9 million men served in Union armies and navies during the Civil War and 1.3 million served in Confederate armies and navies.
