  • Well, last week we were sad to say good-bye to our mangers and coworkers at Disney World. Sarah, our manager said she will miss us, said “you brought a pleasant and hardworking aspect to our team that really rubbed off.” Retirees are very much liked because of their work ethics.

Working at Disney was a good experience. We enjoyed working with so many nice people from different countries and while serving the food meeting guests who came to Disney from all parts of the world. The availability of visiting the theme parks anytime, the free passes for our family and friends, discounts at all Disney stores and many other places are (our cards don’t expire until mid-April) a great benefit. The extra money we earned will help offset the fuel prices when we go on the road again. I am certain we will work at Disney again next winter.

    We have truly enjoyed Florida.

Ralph lived in St. Petersburg for two years before we met and has always liked Florida. I have been here several times including in the summer when it is beastly hot and humid and have never been a great fan of Florida.

But during these past three months it has grown on me. I really like this area we are in — Central Florida. Clermont is a quaint little town, quite old. There are beautiful lakes everywhere – small ones for fishing and rowboats only and large ones that look almost like a bay — this is Lake County.

Everything here is relatively new, the subdivisions, the roads, the stores and shopping centers. There is soooo much to do here. Even without going to any of the Disney parks we could never be bored. There are several other parks e.g. Bush Gardens, Gatorland to name a few. There are theater productions, concerts, all kinds of festivals, sporting events, great shopping center and outlet malls, and lots of wonderful restaurants.

We have been going out to eat more than we ever have in Frederick. Our friends Erma and Bill don’t cook much in their RV and Erma knows every good restaurant within a 50-mile radius. Fortunately the prices here are much more affordable than in the Frederick area. Our plans were to leave here this week and drive up to the Pensacola area to visit a couple we know from St. Timothy’s in Walkersville, from there to New Orleans and Mississippi, and then on to Charleston, S.C. to meet our camping buddies Ray and Clara from Walkersville.

Unfortunately my aunt in Germany passed away last week and I will go to Germany next week for the memorial service and paperwork I have to take care of. My aunt was 91 and had been in a nursing home suffering with Alzheimer’s for the last 15 years. So, her death was a blessing, but nevertheless sad for me. We now will leave here April 10 and drive straight to Charleston.
