Q&A with Frederick's Michael Brown; Players to Watch

Michael Brown

Ultimate Football Fan
A Q&A with Michael Brown, senior linebacker

You have usually been a linebacker. How come? I always liked to hit people.

What was your role last year? I was also a middle linebacker. I always try to lead by example. If they see you running, they’ll run, too. Sometimes you’ve got to holler and yell, do all that stuff.

What do you like about football? I like coming together as a team. You learn a lot about someone when you’re both put to the test. You learn who’s got your back and who doesn’t.

What’s your favorite football memory? Probably when I was playing North Hagerstown, I got like 21 tackles and got in the paper. That was fun.

Do you do anything to motivate yourself for games? I just try stay relaxed because it’s hard to play a sport angry. But sometimes you’ve got to get mad and got to have that killer instinct, unleash the animal.

Are there any techniques you use to succeed on the field? I just try to stay quick and hard. If someone tries to block you the first play, you want to hit them back.

Do you play any other sports? I play lacrosse. I used to play baseball, but I got ejected from a game. It’s not the sport for me, there’s like no contact. I was going into second base and I hit a kid — I thought I was allowed, but I wasn’t. I play defense in lacrosse and make some hits.
