Terence Kerns has been a busy man on the Lackawanna Junior College football team, not only running the ball, but punting it. The former Thomas Johnson star has gained 245 yards on 43 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns as the team's starting running back. His best game was the opener against Albright College, when he ran 12 times for 105 yards. For the season, he has also caught two passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in three games.
When he's not running the ball, Kerns is punting it, 10 times for a 34.6 average.
Steve Anderson of Urbana and Damascus is the leading tackler on the Army football team. The junior linebacker has 34 tackles, two and a half for losses. He has half a sack and one forced fumble.
Ryan Smith of Urbana is having problems staying healthy as a member of the Bucknell University football team. The junior running back hurt his shoulder late in the second game of the year and missed the next two games. He is expected to play this week when Bucknell hosts Georgetown.
Smith, who missed four games with a concussion late last year, has carried eight times for 20 yards. He has caught nine passes for 51 yards.
Corey Nicholson of Linganore is starting at left tackle for the University of Delaware football team. The senior was named captain. Coming into this season he had played in 33 games with 31 starts.
Although he's only a freshman, D.J. Scott of Thomas Johnson has played in four games with two tackles for the Central Michigan football team. The defensive back took part in spring drills this year.
Shannon Breen of Linganore is starting at left tackle for West Virginia Wesleyan. A junior, this is his first year as a starter. He is one of the reasons Wesleyan tailback Reggie Taylor led all NCAA Division II running backs in rushing for the first three weeks of the season.
Jakarie Jackson of Tuscarora has played in three games with four tackles for the James Madison football team. The freshman safety had two tackles in the Maryland game.
Erik Saylor of Urbana has played in four games with six tackles with the Old Dominion football team. He is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman.
Randal Smedley of St. John's is the leading rusher on the Salisbury University football team with 174 yards on 42 carries. He has scored one touchdown. The sophomore has one catch for 9 yards.
Sean Sheehy of Linganore has five tackles as a freshman defensive back at Greensboro College.
Taylor Byrne of Urbana has played in four games with 18 tackles on the Gettysburg College football team. He is a senior linebacker and team captain.
Chris Rich of Linganore is a senior tight end on the Grove City football team. He has seven receptions for 60 yards in four games.
Bobby Humphries of Thomas Johnson is one of several players seeing action on the Shepherd University football team. A junior fullback, he has two catches for 14 yards. Humphries is mainly used as a blocking back. T.J. Taylor of Frederick leads the Rams with six and a half tackles for loss. The senior defensive end, who is starting, has two sacks and 18 tackles. Chris Patton of Urbana is starting at linebacker for the Rams. The sophomore has 18 tackles, five for loss. He has one fumble recovery. Junior Geoff Fry of Frederick is starting at left tackle on the Rams offensive line.
At Frostburg University, Aaron Gruber of Frederick has six tackles in three games as a backup defensive tackle. He has one tackle for a loss. Freshman running back Josh Jackson of Frederick has carried once for 7 yards. Sophomore defensive end Stevie Pryor has seen limited action. Cory Bishop of Linganore has seen limited action as a freshman safety and has one tackle.
At Towson University, senior tight end Wes White of Urbana has played in two games. Sophomore linebacker Brent Hawkins of Urbana played in the team's opener, but hurt his shoulder and has been out since. The Tigers are 1-2 under first year coach Rob Ambrose of Middletown .
At McDaniel College, senior running back Eric Zwilsky of Brunswick has carried 12 times for 58 yards. He has one catch for 3 yards. Zwilsky is coming back from a high ankle sprain suffered earlier this year.
Senior defensive back Patrick Desmond of Frederick is starting and has 24 tackles as a defensive back. He has half a tackle for loss. Senior linebacker Tommy Prazenica of Frederick is starting and has 25 tackles, one and a half for loss. He has one fumble recovery. Senior defensive tackle Albert Leech of Thomas Johnson is also starting. He has 13 tackles, two and a half for loss. He has one sack. Sophomore tight end Woody Butler of Middletown has nine catches for 95 yards and has scored three touchdowns as a starter for the Westminster school.
Sophomore lineman John Dunford of Walkersville has one tackle in one game. Freshman linebacker Casey Briggs of Frederick has one tackle in one game. Junior wide receiver Juris Eyler of Middletown has one catch for 1 yard in two games, but tore his ACL and is out. Jake Nichols of TJ is kicking off and punting for the Green Terror. He has punted 22 times for 830 yards, a 37.7 average. The sophomore has kicked off 19 times, with a 57.3 average.
Kevin Parrish of Urbana has played in four games and has one tackle as a member of the Johns Hopkins football team. He is a junior defensive lineman.

Round 2: Snow expected to fall today, Wednesday
Fast on the heels of the largest 24-hour snowfall to hit the Frederick County since 1983, meteorologists are predicting another round of heavy snow and wind to hit today.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Monday afternoon for the area, including Frederick County, and said 10 to 20 inches of snow is possible by Wednesday night.

School closures cause makeup schedule revision
Even though Frederick County Public Schools are closed today -- using the sixth snow day this school year -- the school system will not hold school on the Monday Presidents Day holiday as the first scheduled snow makeup day.

Crowds pay respect to fallen marine
Even U.S. Marines couldn't hold back tears Monday at the viewing of their colleague, Sgt. David Smith.
The procession to the Frederick Christian Fellowship Church was led by Frederick County Sheriff's deputies. Dressed in full military regalia, Marines carried Smith's casket into the church followed by family members as more Marines stood at attention.
