Friday at 7 p.m. Middletown (5-3) at Catoctin (8-0): This is the first meeting between these teams since 2002. Both are playing well. Catoctin is 8-0 for the first time since 1983 after last week's 20-14 rain-soaked victory at Walkersville . The Cougars defense played well when it needed to and didn't allow a point in the second half. Middletown , meanwhile, has won three in a row after coming through a tough section of the schedule. In that span, they have outscored the opposition 130-12. Senior quarterback Sam Glushakow has accounted for seven touchdowns in the last two weeks alone for the Knights. Catoctin is running away with the Class 1A North region, while Middletown is fighting to earn a playoff spot in the 2A West. The Knights have 46 accumulated points, which ties them with Century for the fourth and final spot in the region. Tuscarora (5-3) at Urbana (8-0): The Hawks knocked Tuscarora out in the first round of the Class 3A West playoffs last season with a 3-0 overtime win in monsoon-like conditions. The field should be significantly drier for this meeting, which is the first between the teams since then. Urbana continues to win by forcing turnovers and playing good defense. The Hawks forced three turnovers in last week's 14-6 victory over Frederick . In their last three wins, the Hawks are averaging just over 13 points per game. Tuscarora, meanwhile, has scored just seven points combined in its last two weeks, both losses. Big plays have been killing the Titans. They have given up eight scoring plays that stretched more than 30 yards in the last two weeks. They are hoping to turn things around against Urbana . When the teams met in the regular season last year, the Titans earned their first victory over the Hawks. Walkersville (5-3) at Brunswick (3-5): Both teams are coming off tough losses last week. Walkersville lost a tight game at home to Catoctin, while Brunswick was blown out at Middletown . The Lions had their chances against Catoctin, but a pair of turnovers and three failed fourth-down conversions in the second half ultimately doomed them. They need to win their final two games to have a good shot of securing their first playoff berth since 2004 in the 2A West. Brunswick , meanwhile, is trying to pull itself out of a tough stretch. The Railroaders have lost five of their last six. Last week, they had trouble slowing Middletown 's running game, as the Knights compiled 362 yards on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Ian Fisher connected with Tyrus Lawson on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter for Brunswick 's only points of the game. Frederick (3-5) at South Hagerstown (2-6): Despite losing, the Cadets played one of their best defensive games of the season last week in limiting Urbana to just 14 points. Frederick held the Hawks scoreless in the second half. The Cadets are hoping to snap their two-game losing streak with a win South Hagerstown. Sophomore running back Deonte Taylor had his string of 100-yard games snapped against Urbana , but still scored the Cadets' lone touchdown on a 2-yard run. Sophomore receiver Jalen Gee caught seven passes for 75 yards for Frederick . The Rebels, meanwhile, are coming off a 21-0 victory at Boonsboro last week, snapping a six-game slide. St. Frances (3-5) at SJCP (1-7): The Vikings hope to snap a five-game losing streak. Their spirited rally in the final minute last week fell short in a 13-12 loss to Cardinal Gibbons. Quarterback LaMont Wims hooked up with DeShawn Weaver on touchdown passes of 31 and 55 yards for the Vikings. The 55-yarder occurred in the fourth quarter and Gibbons stuffed the Vikings on a two-point conversion try to preserve the victory. St. Frances has lost its last four games. The Panthers have only scored 12 points in that span. Prior to that, they had won three games in a row.Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Model (1-7) at MSD (7-1): The Orioles did not play last week because a pair of opponents were overcome by the flu bug. They were originally scheduled to play St. James last Thursday, but St. James couldn't fulfill the commitment because the school has been closed due to a flu outbreak. MSD scrambled to schedule a game against the Virginia Lions for Friday night until the Lions were stricken by the flu and couldn't play. The Orioles are hopeful that Model will be able to make the trip from northeast D.C. The Eagles have struggled, losing their last four games.
