Field Hockey Playoffs

Class 1A North Semifinals

Catoctin 2, Carver A&T 0

BALTIMORE -- Alison Benjamin and Sam Crabtree each had a goal for Catoctin (4-8-1), which advances to the regional championship game Thursday at home against Manchester Valley.

Victoria Whitbred and Kristy Long each had an assist for the Cougars. Amanda Kline had six saves and earned the shutout.

Class 2A West Semifinals

Poolesville 1, South Carroll 0

POOLESVILLE -- Dakota Birely scored on an assist from Allyson Dahlen. Amy Defnet recorded the shutout with two saves.

Poolesville (11-2) will play at Century at 3 p.m., Thursday in the regional championship game.

Class 4A North Semifinals

Westminster 3, Urbana 0

Urbana goalkeepers Caitlyn Higdon and Jessica Thompson combined for 13 saves, while Jody Putnam, Christen Mondonedo and Shannon Matthews played well defensively as the Hawks finished the season 9-5.

3A West Semifinal

Quince Orchard 3, Clarksburg 1

Katie Bertrand scored for the Coyotes (7-10) in the loss, while Mioraju Mishra made seven saves.

Volleyball

Maryland-DC Private School Tournament

Quarterfinals

MSD 3, Seton Keough 1

Scores: 25-11, 25-19, 12-25, 25-21. Brittany Frank had six digs for Maryland School for the Deaf; Tandy Lewis had 12 digs with six kills; Michelle Mansfield-Hom had nine kills with three digs; Augusta Seremeth had four digs with two kills; Shaina Steingieser had 12 kills with 10 digs; Claire Tucker had 12 digs, five aces and three kills; and Shayna Rose-Unger had 29 assists, eight digs and three service aces.
