MSD wins 10th

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Maryland School for the Deaf's football team did its part to stake a claim to an eighth national deaf prep championship with a 49-0 shutout of California SD-Riverside Friday in the season-finale.

The Orioles (10-1) wrapped up its seventh straight season with one loss or less and await a final decision from national deaf prep officials on the national crown. MSD coach Andy Bonheyo said that decision is expected within a few days.

MSD, which has won six straight national championships, dominated CSD-Riverside with 419 yards of total offense. On defense, the Orioles held CSD-Riverside to 145 yards in total offense.

Ethan Kramer was the leading rusher for MSD with 96 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Teammate Todd Rewolinski rushed for 92 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns

Quarterback Todd Bonheyo completed 7-of-8 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. Shawn Harrington caught four passes for 68 yards. Jesse Steingieser had two catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Delaware Tech 73, FCC 47

HAGERSTOWN -- Josie Hildebrand led Frederick Community (1-3) with 23 points. Ra'Shaun Wright had three assists for the Cougars and Naomi Carroll had six rebounds.

FCC will get a 2-0 forfeit win from Philadelphia today since the school failed to send a team to the mixer, FCC coach Jack Mehl said.

Cross Country

MIAA Championships

BALTIMORE -- St. John's-Catholic Prep finished fourth at Agricultural History Farm Park with 100 points. Kieran Blakemore finished seventh to lead the Vikings and earned all-state honors in the conference.

Ryan McDowell was 15th and Reilly Wood wsa 18th.

In the IAAM girls junior varsity division, St. John's won with 21 points. Elizabeth Harraka was third.
