Becca Hemby. the 2008 Girls Soccer Player of the Year from Thomas Johnson, has given a verbal committment to accept a full scholarship to High Point University in High Point, N.C., TJ girls coach Mitch Rubin said.
Hemby has been a three-year starter for the Patriots, leading them to the 2008 4A North regional title. She is the third all-time leading scorer in TJ girls soccer history with 30 goals and fifth on the all-time points list.
Hemby is a two time all-conference player and was selected honorable mention All State in 2007 and second team All State in 2008. She picked High Point (Big South Conference) over Davidson and Virginia Tech.
A visit to High Point was what convinced Hemby to go there in 2010.
She said the coach told her she would have a quick impact on the team when the season starts. She said her course of study is undecided.
