The FCC Cougars volleyball squad is very busy after a long week of practices, games, classes, work, etc.
Last week we had our first home game against Hagerstown Community College and lost to them in three sets. We were so pumped for the game, we spread the word, used chalk around campus telling people about the times, and also posted it everywhere on Facebook.
We had the most fans i have ever seen at a volleyball game, and we appreciate all the support we got, and thank all of you. I would have to say they played very well.
I do not know if we had our "jitters" gone by the first two games because they beat us a lot by points. By the third game our heads and hearts were definitely ready to come into play on the court for this game. We did not want to lose at all, but it was not our game to take once again.
Going into the third game our adrenaline was rushing, hearts beating, and we all were determined to kick some butt. Danielle Maught, No. 8, had a very in-depth speech about how this should be our game to come out and want to take it, she talked about how our hearts needed to be in the game and we need to play and come together as a team. I think this heart-to-heart, made us really push and work hard as a team, because we were neck to neck that game and wanted to dominate.
If only we would have played like that the first two games ...
That is what we all left the game that night thinking in the back of our minds. That is why on Wednesday we came ready to talk about what our weaknesses were in that game, and worked on practicing hard to accomplish a win on Thursday.
Hagerstown has an advantage because each one of their girls have either played together, or they have recruited girls from all over. Our team this year is very important, I am the only returning player, and each one of our girls are new, some have played together, but we all are pretty new at all of this. That is why we are determined to make this a great year, and to show everyone this is a very talented, but different, team than they have seen before from FCC.
We are hoping to make jaws drop when we play teams, because when we come together and play as a team we have fun, but our talent is glowing from all of us. We have a very talented group this year. With the hard practice on Wednesday, we had "hiked" to Chesapeake and had beat them in three sets.
We came into that game in it to win it. We played hard, switched up some of our rotation, and still won. We worked hard, and now our record is 5-2. We are hoping to keep the losses down to two! We play Howard and College of Southern Maryland this week, both home games.
All who want to come watch, we will greatly appreciate it! Howard and Southern Maryland are both very talented and hard working teams, and the Lady Cougars are ready to come out and play as a team this week, and let our losses fade behind us, because we all know the best thing is to push forward, we have amazing talent and a great season ahead of us!!
We are playing this season for our team!! We are ready to dominate once again! Let's go Lady Cougars, this is our season!
