Marquis Woodyard: Football
It's Game of the Week time ... again
Originally published October 13, 2009

Hey, everyone. So, the last time I left we were heading into our game versus Middletown. The end result ... We won.

Now our record is 4-2, unfortunately; the two losses against Martinsburg and Urbana isn't going away. But the way we think about it is this: Each week we start over 0-0, hypotheticially of course. And if the rest of the season goes well, we'll get a shot at Urbana again.

Two Fridays ago it was exciting when we beat Middletown; they were very aggressive team with many skilled players as well! They played us tough the entire game despite what the score was. Much respect to the Middletown football team, their fans, and coaching staff. We were spurred by "California commit" (Every write up says that) Nick Forbes, Jeremy Grove, and the talented defensive unit. A good game.

Now last week, I'd rather not discuss that game but one thing is that I didn't know it was the Game of the Week until Thursday morning. Weird right?

But defensively I'd like to say we played our butts off. We only allowed about 60 yards. So I'm gonna take the time to give shout outs to: Victor Walker, Jeff Bryan, Robert Williams, John Laster, Max Anderson, Nick Forbes, Jeremy Grove, Fabian Gonzalez, Brandon Brownfield, and Deandre Scott. You guys played your hearts out and I really love you guys. Enough with the mushy stuff. Hahaha.

This week: Tuscarora ... and it's the Game of the Week again. This time the outcome has to be different. This game, however, is a game that not only is a game that we have to win for playoff and division standings but for bragging rights across the city. Thursday 7 p.m. at Tuscarora ... be there.

"You're only as good as the man next to you."
