Sable Frushour: Womens Soccer
An 'abrupt' ending for FCC women's soccer
Originally published October 29, 2009

The season is over for the Frederick Community College Women Cougars and from the stats (5-9-0), the season is seen as a rough one.

For a couple of the last games the girls played, players were minimal and some games had to be cancelled or rescheduled due to rain, but in any case the season seemed to end rather abruptly.

To me, the season went by faster than I ever thought it would and I imagine this being because the team did not make it to playoffs. It was a surprising thing for me, being as we made it last year and the year before with statistics lower than the current standings, but the result still stands.

I feel the girls progressed as a team as the season went on, though the last section of the season seemed stressful and hard. The teams the girls played this season were mostly good teams with good hearts though in our hearts we know we could have pulled out stronger than what the papers show.

Sometimes games just end bad and in any sport every team has rough days, weeks and even longer streaks. It is hard for me to be direct about most of the last games because I was not in attendance.

I do know, that the girls worked hard and they played hard. I always got updated from players about how games ended and usually the updates were out of frustration.

But, as of now the girls need to just put this season behind them, grow and develop and hopefully, with the experience of this year at FCC, have a more prosperous future whether it be another year playing as a cougar or moving forward.
