Playoffs: The second season
Originally published November 06, 2009

Here we are ... ontto the second game of the playoffs.

Our game on Tuesday was a real confidence builder for us.  The playoffs are like a whole new season; a chance to start off with a clean slate.  Our spirits were high after going up 3-0 in the first half. We have momentum going into our game against Kenwood tomorrow.

However, our goal isn’t only to win.  Our team objective is to play well and prepare ourselves for the games ahead.

Coach keeps reminding us that the only true sin is the failure to live up to your potential.  He is right; we have the opportunity to do something spectacular with our season this year.  If we play Hawks soccer from the moment we step on to the field until the final whistle blows, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.

As each day goes by we are further reminded that our time with our seniors is limited.  We can’t afford to take any moment for granted.  With each game we are playing for more time with them.  Of course, we are still a team even after the season has ended, but this is the time to capitalize on all of our hard work.

The cold weather that is standard heading into this part of the season reminds us that this is when we should be at our best.  As we pile on jackets for practice it doesn’t seem long ago that it was almost 90 degrees outside and we were struggling to find our team’s identity.

Now we know who we are as a team and hope to show it in tomorrow’s game. Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs!
