Athletes of the week : Emily Vannoy

Thomas Johnson track and field star Emily Vannoy tacked onto her impressive list of accomplishments yet again last week.

Vannoy broke her own state record and won a 4A state title in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 10 1/4 inches. This was just the latest triumph for Vannoy, last season's Field Athlete of the Year.

Her record throw helped her lock up her third straight Class 4A indoor title in the shot and eclipse her old state record by more than 2 feet.
