College presidents from about 100 of the nation's best-known universities are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking on campus.

    Residents in Myersville, Point of Rocks, Libertytown, Woodsboro and Jefferson are paying a higher rate for their fire tax this July because fire companies in those areas requested 24-hour a day coverage, according to a July 19 article in The Frederick News-Post by Gina Gallucci-White. The only problem is the personnel are not there and might not be there until June 2009.

  • Can farmers and commuters share the roads in Frederick County? If so, how?
    Tractors, milk trucks and livestock routinely take to the roads in Frederick County, and Braddock Heights commuter Carl Disque had this to say about it: "One of the nice things about Frederick County is the farming heritage. It's really nice to be able to slow down and see a farmer working his field. I think most farmers are very considerate, so I have no problem at all."
