Wonder 1: National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg: A revered natural spot of beauty since 1805 which has evolved over the centuries to become a mecca for visitors throughout the world. The golden statue of the Blessed Mother has towered over Route 15 since 1965 beckoning visitors to lift their eyes, not to mention serving as a beacon and landmark for pilots in the sky.

Wonder 2: Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg has been a part of Frederick County and Maryland history for two hundred years! Considered the Cradle of Bishops for the Catholic church in America and the Alma Mater for thousands upon thousands of illustrious and distinctive undergraduates the Mount is certainly a local site of Wonder and a worthy spot to visit.!
