Wonder 1: Hessian Barracks; 101 Clarke Place
Built during the French-Indian War (1754-1763), this site was used for different purposes: a prison; a state armory; a silk worm production site; a hospital; and the first Maryland School for the Deaf. In addition it served as the Argicultural Fairgrounds(1853-1860).
