Discover the wonderful world of herbs and how you can work with them in your everyday life.

With the guidance of herbalist Lacey Walker and guest teachers, learn how to match plant properties to systems of the human body and cultivate a personalized approach to health for you and your family. Each class will include the opportunity to create an herbal preparation to take home and grow your home apothecary.

$40 per session, drop-in.

Though there is currently no formal certification for herbal studies, participants who attend the whole series will receive a certificate of completion to recognize this personal achievement.

This series features a once-a-month curriculum running March to November that dives deep into the ways that herbs impact our health. Each month will cover a different system in the body and will deliver the following:

Explain and discuss the foundation of herbal medicine and its history.

Identify what makes herbs work (anatomy of herbs and herbal energetics)

Create basic herbal preparations.

Recognize and confidently use sixteen common, locally-available herbs, including borage, comfrey, bee balm, lemon balm, dandelion, chamomile,  elderberry, tulsi, and more.

Teach how to grow herbs organically, gather wild herbs ethically, as well as dry and store herbs.

Create herbal cosmetics and topical care for skin rashes and stretch marks

Cook using herbs, including edible flowers, culinary herbs, and weeds.

Create and use herbal remedies for you and your family’s optimal health.

Our primary teacher will be Lacey Walker, Fox Haven's farm manager and in-house community herbalist. We are also considering bringing in guest teachers and even having a couple field trips to the farm and herbal apothecaries in our region.

Though there is currently no formal certification for herbal studies, we would plan to offer a certificate of completion of the series and opportunities for more advanced learning at the farm.
