In May, Urbana Dance and Performing Arts Studio, Ijamsville, competed against dozens of dance studios from around the state for prestigious top honors at Showstopper, the largest dance competition in the country.
The competition was held in Woodbridge, Virginia.
Their entries placed as follows:
“Don’t Care About Us’’ received ninth place overall in teen advanced large, “Heads Will Roll’’ received third place overall in junior advanced small, “American Girl’’ received fifth place overall in mini performance small, “Look To You’’ received seventh place overall in teen competitive small, “Slow Me Down’’ received first place overall in junior advanced small and “Bicycle Tricycle’’ received seventh place overall in Teen Advanced Small.
“Legally Blonde’’ received eighth place overall in junior advanced large, “Apocalypse’’ received ninth place overall in teen performance small, “Pretty Baby’’ received fourth place overall in mini performance small, “Party’’ received fourth place overall in teen performance small and “Earth’’ received eighth place overall in teen competitive super.
Alexandra Shovlin received first place overall in teen competitive solo, Haley DeGirolamo received first place overall in teen advanced solo, Emily Yi received seventh place overall in teen advanced solo, Audrey Simpson received fourth place overall in junior advanced solo, Marisa Frontin received third place overall in teen advanced solo, and “Circle of Life’’ received sixth place overall in mini performance large.
Urbana Dance received two crystal awards, 21 double platinum awards, 12 platinum awards and two gold awards.This qualifies them to go to the Showstopper National Finals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this summer.
