Frederick Regional Health System is hosting a National Cancer Survivors Day event Sunday, June 2.

The afternoon will feature lunch, fellowship and an afternoon of wellness, according to a press release from the health system.

Each year, Frederick Regional Health System cancer services commemorates the day by honoring those who count themselves among the 15.5 million cancer survivors in the U.S. The organization invites anyone newly diagnosed, in treatment, or has a history of cancer to attend.

"Come see how life after cancer is more than just surviving," said Janet Rhoderick, oncology operations manager for the health system. "It's about living well. And that's something to celebrate. You will find our community's National Cancer Survivors Day celebration filled with joy, hope, camaraderie and compassion as we acknowledge our community's cancer survivors. We will also recognize the contributions of their families, friends and health care providers and raise awareness of the ongoing challenges faced by cancer survivors today."

The event is free for one survivor and one guest. A $10 fee applies to each additional guest. To register for the 2019 National Cancer Survivors Day celebration at James M. Stockman Cancer Institute, call 240-566-4500.
