A farmer and owner of a construction business will serve as president of The Great Frederick Fair this year.
Joseph Devilbiss, who has a 200-head beef cattle farm near Lewistown and owns Joseph F. Devilbiss Construction, was elected to the presidency by the Frederick County Agricultural Society and the board of managers and directors of The Great Frederick Fair.
Colby Hubble was elected vice president, Robert Frank was re-elected secretary and Maurice Gladhill was re-elected treasurer. John Bare served the past two years as president.
A supporter of 4-H activities, Devilbiss is an annual sponsor of the memorial steer at the Frederick County 4-H beef, sheep and swine sale and through donations to the 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program.
Besides launching his construction business in 1993, Devilbiss is president of the Mount Prospect Cemetery Association and past president of the Professional Remodelers Association. Devilbiss is a member of the Lewistown Fire Co., Lewistown Ruritan Club, the Good Samaritan Program at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Frederick County Builders Association.
In a news release, Devilbiss said that he looks forward to promoting agriculture education, family entertainment and maintaining a positive presence in city and county business sectors.
