In a recent series of abstract paintings, artist Cat Gunn creates work which addresses notions of identity within the LGBTQ community that are androgynous, queer, non-binary, transgender, or gender-fluid.

Working with recycled and reclaimed objects and materials, the artist focused on interaction, reaction, inclusiveness and participation as she imagined and constructed a series of 24 devices which are meant to erase our phobias, remove our fears, and transform them into tangible art within the site-specific installation. Gunn explores identity within the LGBTQ community by creating work which pushes notions of androgyny and queer by combining both masculine and feminine qualities to establish something that is gender-neutral, gender fluid, transgender, or genderqueer.
