Who does the band consist of and how did you all meet?
The band consists of my brother Julian Peters, our friend Caleb Berrian and myself (Josh Peters). My brother and I have been playing music together for over five years just playing covers and riffing around. And our friend Caleb has been our neighbor since we were kids, and we’ve been showing him how to play a little bit here and there, and he helps out with lyrics in the songs.
Where did the band name come from?
The band name came from my dad actually. He came up with it after having a stop at an airport in London called “Gatwick Airport,” it dawned on him that the name Gatwick would be a cool band name. After having a band of his own for years under that name and playing show after show back in the early 70s, he kept the name in his back pocket even after they were no longer a band. To make a long story short, he passed the name down like the passing of a torch to my brother and I.
How would you describe Gatwick’s sound?
Whaling bass, heavy riff and loud drums! That is Gatwick.
You recently played Sky Stage with Blue Vultures (your first show). How did it go?/what did you learn?
It went very well! We were able to help Rhythm Changes raise over $600 for music education in Haiti.
What lies in the future for Gatwick?
We are working on an EP right now, hoping to have that out soon. And getting more shows around the DMV area.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Just going to give a shout out to our instagram @gatwick_band, so people can keep up and keep an eye out for new music.
