The Frederick County Promenaders began their 26th year of square dancing Sept. 6. Virgil Forbes was the guest caller/cuer. Fifteen dancers met at the Cracker Barrel for the club’s sixth annual pre-dance dinner.
September is National Square Dance Month and the Promenaders and their new graduates are preparing for their free open house dance, “Apple Delight,” from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Ballenger Community Hall, 5460 Jefferson Pike, Frederick. Charlie Stockman will be calling and cueing. Pie and ice cream will be served.
The Promenaders sponsor lessons once per year, covering basic, mainstream and plus calls. Lessons will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and continue through May 13 at the Ballenger Community Hall. The first two lessons, Oct.1 and 8, are free. After Oct. 8, lessons are $6.
The 2013-14 officers are Jan and Alex Dommerich, presidents; Cliff Cool and Kevin Sullivan, vice presidents; Trudy Murtaugh, secretary; and Don Rohr, treasurer.
