The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has recognized nine Lebanon Valley softball players for their outstanding academic achievements during the 2019 season at the college in Annville, Pennsylvania. Local players include Anna Marie McClain, of Smithsburg, a graduate of Middletown High School who is pursuing a bachelor of science and doctor of physical therapy in exercise science and physical therapy; and Alexa Windsor, of Union Bridge, a graduate of Walkersville High School who received a bachelor of science in neuroscience.

The following area students are among the new students at Marietta College, in Marietta, Ohio, for the fall semester: Daniel Lacey, of Keedysville and a graduate of Boonsboro High School who is majoring in finance; and Jiggy Smaha, of Frederick, a graduate of Urbana High School.

Dajah Gee, of Frederick, is among the 141 student-athletes at New York Institute of Technology, in Old Westbury, New York, who achieved a 3.2 or better GPA in the spring semester and qualified for the university’s Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Ashley Lipari, of Frederick, was named to the homecoming court at Kutztown University, in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.

Eleanor Bissell Wilson, of Mount Airy, is among three alumnae recently elected to the board of governors for the Westover Alumnae Association, in Middlebury, Connecticut. Wilson, Class of 1978, is an account executive and foodservice ingredients specialist for General Mills. She holds a bachelor’s in sociology with a minor in education from Goucher College. She resides in Mount Airy with her husband, Steven Wilson. She is a certified coach for the Road Runners Club of America for distances ranging from five kilometers to half marathons.

Junior Rebecca Duke, of Ijamsville, scored one of three goals in a recent field hockey game for Lasell University, in Newton, Massachusetts.

Spencer J. Ford, of Adamstown and a biology major at Oregon State University, in Corvallis, Oregon, maintains a straight-A average and made the scholastic honor roll for the summer term.
