Thomas Morris graduated from Drexel University, summa cum laude with a B.S in Health Services Administration in June. He received honors with distinction from the Penonni Honors College at Drexel. Morris served as president and philanthropy chairperson for the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He also served as vice president of the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society. He was named a Macy Undergraduate Leadership Fellow during his sophomore year. He worked with the dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions as the events coordinator for the Agewell Collaboratory of the college. Since graduation, Morris has been elected a member of the Drexel University Chapter of the Alpha Eta Society, an honor society for students of allied health in the top ten percent of their class. He continues as a graduate student at Drexel University in the Dornsife School of Public Health. Morris is a 2017 graduate of Middletown HIgh School and the son of Robert and Suzanne Morris of Braddock Heights.
Abigail Lauterbach, of Frederick, has been named a Spanish, accounting and marketing tutor at Albright College, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Lauterbach is a graduate of Frederick High School and is majoring in accounting.
Members of the Class of 2021 were honored on May 9 at Colgate University, in Hamilton, New York, including local students Omolayo Ajala, of Clarksburg, bachelor’s in sociology; Toluwalashe Emokpae, of Boonsboro, bachelor’s in international business; Shelby Stevens, of Damascus, bachelor’s cum laude in molecular biology; and Emily Yin, of Poolesville, bachelor’s in cum laude in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies.
Nathaniel Young, of New Market, and Xavier Carter, of Charles Town, West Virginia, are attending Elmira College, in Elmira, New York.
McDaniel College, Westminster, has awarded select freshmen and transfer students with Alumni Legacy Scholarships valued at $100,000 for each student, including Sarah Vaughan, of Woodbine, and David Bradley, of Union Bridge, both transfers from Carroll Community College.
The following local students were awarded Educator’s Legacy Scholarship from McDaniel College: Sarah Mendez, of Damascus; Lily Miller, of Myersville; and Rebecca Forman, of New Windsor.
McDaniel College students were recently inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society including local students Spencer Cole and Ashley Reyes, of Mount Airy; Taylor Routzahn, of Frederick; and Sage Wann, of New Market.
The following local students were awarded Military Legacy Scholarships in amounts of up to $100,000: Julia Ahrens, of Clarksburg; Kevin Aquino and Madison Tranchitella, of Mount Airy; Bryen Beer of Frederick; and Mahala Sawyers, of New Windsor.

Rachel Gibson, of Frederick, was elected by the Lebanon Valley College student body, in Annville, Pennsylvania, to serve on Student Government during the 2020-21 academic year as the junior class equity representative. Gibson, a graduate of Tuscarora High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science.
