Fun In the Sun Festival in Mount Airy
The Fun in the Sun family festival will be held 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 110 S. Main St., Mount Airy. A sidewalk chalk art competition is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., registration required, limited to 24 teams. The theme is animals. The cardboard castle competition is from 5 to 7:15 p.m. with registration in the railyard. Food will be available from the Kiwanis. Droneburg reunion to be held
The Droneburg reunion will be held July 21 at Walkersville Park. Lunch will begin at noon. Paper ware and fried chicken will be supplied. Bring a dish to share and your own drinks. Pam Reppart is president of the reunion, Judy Willson is vice president, Nicole Montgomery and Pam Droneburg are in charge of children’s games and Janie Bartgis is in charge of adult games.
Frederick BPW to meet
The Frederick Business & Professional Women will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Homewood at Frederick, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, for dinner and program with guest speaker Dr. Jeffrey W. Cross (www.crossdentistry.com) will speak on oral appliance therapy and how it could make a difference for women with sleepiness, menopause, restless legs syndrome, obesity and pregnancy. He will also talk on how therapy could reduce the need for reliance on CPAP masks at night. Dr. Cross is certified to treat sleep disorders. Between 1 and 4 p.m. July 21, participating TCC and Wireless Zone stores will donate backpacks full of school supplies to through TCC’s annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway program. Local families can bring their children to a participating store to pick up a backpack filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more.
