Friends and Neighbors Club social

Shuan Butcher, local author and director of communications for The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership, will be the speaker at the Friends and Neighbors Club social on at 7 p.m. May 15 at the Visitor’s Center, 9090 Ridgefield Drive, Frederick. The event is free and open to all Spring Ridge residents.

Butcher will talk about the nonprofit, four-state partnership dedicated to raising awareness of American heritage in the region running from Gettysburg, Pa., through Maryland and Harpers Ferry, W.Va., to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.

Butcher will also address special opportunities with the many events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War and highlight some of the scenic and historical one or two day itineraries right here in our area.
