Cornish fund

Dr. Edwin R. Cornish Jr., right, recently established the Mary Gregg Cornish Memorial Fund in memory of his late wife, Mary, who was an avid gardener.

The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces the Mary Gregg Cornish Memorial Fund. Established by her husband Dr. Edwin R. Cornish Jr., it becomes one of more than 700 funds under management.

With the fund, Dr. Cornish is honoring his wife’s love of gardening. Grants from the fund will support community gardens, including educational activities that promote gardening and the nutritional value of using local produce. Grants will also help expand library collections related to gardening, assist in beautifying public spaces with plants and flowers, and encourage youth to become involved with gardening.

Memorial funds are one of the many ways the Community Foundation of Frederick County transforms the unique charitable dreams of individuals, families and organizations into the reality of charitable funds supporting a range of worthy causes.
