Mission of Mercy, a nonprofit that provides free medical and dental care to the un- and underinsured, has received a $25,000 grant from the Qlarant Foundation to support the dental program at Mission of Mercy’s four Maryland dental clinics.
The $25,000 grant will help Mission of Mercy with the operation of its new three-chair, state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic that was launched earlier this year. The mobile dental clinic now travels with the organization’s mobile medical clinic to churches in Frederick, Carroll and Baltimore counties in Maryland that generously host their free clinics each month.
The dedicated mobile dental clinic is now enabling Mission of Mercy to double its patients. The organization’s volunteer dentists, in conjunction with its dental director and dental coordinator, perform free extractions and fillings. Patients can also receive medications for free to ensure proper infection control.
“We are truly honored that the Qlarant Foundation has once again chosen to support our work,” said Mission of Mercy Executive Director Linda Ryan. “We know they are inundated with grant requests every year, so we appreciate their continued belief in the work we do.”
Mission of Mercy was one of 18 different nonprofits in Maryland and Washington, D.C., to share in a total of $384,000 awarded by the Qlarant Foundation in 2019. Since 2006, the Qlarant Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $6 million to organizations that strive to improve healthcare and human services for individuals and communities.
