Fieldpointe Boulevard Shooting

Frederick police officers are shown outside an apartment building on Fieldpointe Boulevard, the site of a shooting which left a man critical but stable condition with a wound late Wednesday morning.

Police arrested a man in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting inside a Frederick apartment, according to a press release from the Frederick Police Department.

However, the shooting, which left one victim hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, may have been accidental, the department said in a press release. Evidence collected from the scene and statements from witnesses led police to make that determination.

Police charged Marcus Lequell Boone, 19, of Frederick, with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within city limits, possession of a firearm by a minor, and altering physical evidence, according to the press release.

The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. in the 300 block of the Fieldpointe Apartments.

The police responded after the victim entered the hospital. An ambulance was not called, according to Cpl. Joseph Palkovic of the Frederick Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. The victim has since been released from the hospital, the release said.

The police determined that the shooting occurred in one of the units of the Fieldpointe Apartments, on Fieldpointe Boulevard. There were several people in the unit at the time of the shooting, police said.

FNP often lets unhinged or borderline racist comments slip through. Its just a mark of their generally sub-par journalism and the culture that has thrived in the petri dish of the comments section. How about disabling comments on all crime related stories? If you aren't going to regulate these commenters, take the privilege away... even Twitter bans people. Maybe some of these commenters should take their opinions to Twitter and see how those small fish function outside of _this_ fishbowl. If they even know what it is....

User1, where does it say that he altered the serial number? I checked multiple sources, and they all said the same thing, "altering physical evidence ", which could mean anything. Altering the serial number on a firearm is a Federal felony under 18 USC 922, and would be mentioned if that were the case. The penalty for merely posession of such a weapon is 5-10 years, especially if the firearm were stolen. Let's wait to see exactly the story is.

Where does it state that was an illegal weapon? It was illegal because the minor was in possession. Doesn't mean the gun was illegally obtained.
