What was originally reported as a shooting early Friday in the 100 block of Key Parkway ended with Frederick police charging a woman with carrying a large amount of PCP, according to a department news release.
Police were originally sent to the area to investigate a report of shots fired at 1:54 a.m., but there was no evidence of a shooting or gunfire, according to a release issued Friday. While still at the call, however, Officer Charles Lawson noticed 31-year-old Latonya Nichole Dyke in a nearby parking lot, police said.
Lawson also smelled PCP, an illegal hallucinogen, around Dykes, the release states.
When police searched Dykes, they found enough PCP to charge her with possession with the intent to distribute PCP, possession of PCP and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release and court records.
As of Friday morning, Dykes, with a last known address in the 400 block of Arwell Court in Frederick, was awaiting an appearance before a District Court commissioner. No bail information was available in online court records.
