A pedestrian was issued two citations for failing to cross properly at an intersection after being struck by a drunken driver early Sunday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Officers responded to West Patrick Street and Willowdale Drive at about 2 a.m. after a person was struck by a motor vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jessica Jane Reis, of Frederick, and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Reis was arrested and charged with DUI, DUI per se and DWI.

Although police say Reis was intoxicated, the pedestrian was at fault for causing the crash, according to a news release.

The pedestrian was alert and conscious when police arrived and was taken to a trauma center for treatment. No one else was injured in the crash.

I don't think I've ever seem an even remotely similar headline.

Read yesterday that Baltimore is having the same problem in pedestrians becoming bugs on the windshield and we aren`t a full blown development yet.

Why wasn't the name of the pedestrian disclosed, after all he/she was the one at fault?

Maybe because a sober person would've seen them and reacted in time?

What does that have to do with not publishing the at fault persons name?

Nothing that I can see, rb, not a thing.

So, Dwasserba, are you saying that only intoxicated drivers hit jaywalkers?

My guess is because pedestrians may not have ID like a driver

As good a guess as any

Apparently the pedestrian had good enough ID to be issued two citations.

CD, I think shift is right, the police didn't think the ID was good enough to print the name. No good cop wants to put their name next to a national ID as a good ID. The city cops I know would love for 386g to be part of the city policy. They support Chuck and would love to work for him

People crossing the street anywhere is a pet peeve of mine. Glad they are okay
