A Frederick man was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense this week after city police linked him to an assault that occurred last year.

Dyontae Johnson, 22, of the 7000 block of Hames Court, was arrested Wednesday and was initially ordered held without bail. He was later released on $5,000 unsecured bail after a hearing Thursday afternoon in Frederick County District Court. The charges stem from an incident that police learned about in January when a woman who had been in a relationship with Johnson from June to August 2018 stepped forward, according to court documents.

The woman told police that Johnson assaulted her one night in August and forced himself on her despite her telling him "no" multiple times, the documents state. A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for June 20.

You know? You would wish police and advocates in the area would have had him on their radar before it came to this! It looks like the victim got too scared once and withdrew and the prosecutor declined to proscute a few of these. $5,000 is rediculous. It's sad that the freedom of the abuser is given more status than the safety of the victims. Where is he originally from? Just curious?

We need to know the name of the judge that released a rape suspect with no bond! That's absolutely ridiculous!

? This guy has a $5,000 bond. What are you talking about?
