A Frederick man was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense this week after city police linked him to an assault that occurred last year.
Dyontae Johnson, 22, of the 7000 block of Hames Court, was arrested Wednesday and was initially ordered held without bail. He was later released on $5,000 unsecured bail after a hearing Thursday afternoon in Frederick County District Court. The charges stem from an incident that police learned about in January when a woman who had been in a relationship with Johnson from June to August 2018 stepped forward, according to court documents.
The woman told police that Johnson assaulted her one night in August and forced himself on her despite her telling him "no" multiple times, the documents state. A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for June 20.
