A Frederick man was arrested and charged with attacking and briefly strangling a woman in an alcohol-fueled assault early Saturday, according to city police.
Wilmer Orlando Lopez-Lemuz, 24, of the 100 block of East South Street, was taken into custody shortly at 1:25 a.m. when police responded to a phone call following several 911 hang-ups in the same area around Lopez-Lemuz's home, according to charging documents filed in Frederick County District Court.
Lopez-Lemuz was confronted by officers as he stood in front of his home and were quickly approached by two women, including one who said she had been the victim of an assault by Lopez-Lemuz, who she said had also briefly strangled her while threatening to kill her, according to documents.
The women said Lopez-Lemuz was drunk when he became violent, waking them and telling one of them to leave. Lopez-Lemuz did not address the women's accusations when questioned by police, the documents state.
Lopez-Lemuz was charged with first- and second-degree assault and remained in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center after he was denied bail in a bail review hearing Monday afternoon, according to court records.
