The Frederick Police Department is asking for help identifying a man who stole a woman's wallet and fraudulently used her credit cards last month, according to an agency press release.

The woman noticed her wallet had been taken from her purse between 10:15 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. July 5 while she was shopping at the Walmart in the 2400 block of Monocacy Boulevard, the release states. Within minutes, one of the woman's missing credit cards was used to make purchases at the Lowe's on Buckeystown Pike. Several more purchases were made from other stores over the next hour or so, with the last purchase being made at 12:48 p.m. at Crisfield Seafood in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, according to the release.

Police attributed a total of $6,500 in fraudulent purchases to the shopping spree, which also included stops at the Macy's on Buckeystown Pike and the Home Depot on Urbana Pike.

Based on surveillance footage taken from several of the stores, police identified a man as the likely suspect. Anyone who can either identify the man or provide police with information helpful to the case was asked to contact Officer Christopher Stanley at 240-440-3513 or by email at cstanley@frederickmdpolice.org. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the department's tip line at 301-600-8477 (TIPS), send a text message to 240-674-8477 (TIPS) or an email to fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org.

She lost her wallet at Walmart and the guy seems to be wearing a Walmart employee vest, so maybe start there?

Looks to me like her wallet was stolen, and probably because she was going around with her purse open and not paying attention. And on the WFMD news it was stated that the appeared to have a Wal Mart vest on, but was not believed to be an employee of the store.

Because getting a job and earning a honest living, with its manifold benefits, just isn't his thing, apparently.
