Four Maryland Division of Corrections inmates were hospitalized Tuesday after a transport vehicle they were in was struck by a dump truck in Frederick County, according to state police.

The crash took place at 10:15 a.m. on Liberty Road/Md. 26 at Buffalo Road when a Maryland Division of Corrections transport van tried to make a U-turn and was struck by the dump truck, according to a Maryland State Police press release.

Neither the driver of the truck nor the driver of the corrections van was hurt in the crash, but all four male inmates who were in the van at the time suffered injuries and were ultimately taken to hospitals for treatment, the release states.

Three of the injured inmates were taken by ambulance to  Frederick Health Hospital, and the fourth was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, according to the release.

Traffic was delayed in the area for a short time as a result of the crash, the details of which were still under investigation Tuesday afternoon, according to the release.

This reminds me of the time back in the day when a prison transport vehicle was involved an accident with a cement truck. Twelve “hardened” criminals escaped!

[lol] I'll need to see some concrete evidence.
