At least one person was flown to a trauma center after a vehicle crash Tuesday on Interstate 70 near New Market, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash occurred shortly before noon near eastbound mile marker 63 on the interstate just east of the Md. 75 exit, according to the state Department of Transportation's Coordinated Highways Action Response Team website.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes were closed as emergency medical personnel requested a state police helicopter to fly out at least one person with serious injuries, according to Sgt. Richard Kulina, a supervisor with the state police Frederick barrack.
Traffic was also disrupted on Md. 75 near New Market, but all lanes of the interstate and surrounding roads were reopened as of 12:30 p.m., according to the response team's website.
Maryland State Police Sgt. Richard Kulina could not confirm details of the crash as of noon, including the number of vehicles involved, the number of patients or their conditions.
