A Frederick County Public Schools official will receive $2,000 to attend a national conference through the Bridges to the Future program, according to a news release.

Stephen Starmer, the school district's purchasing manager, is one of 20 recipients to receive the award sponsored by the Association of School Business Officials International and MetLife Resources.

Bridges to the Future's scholarship program supports aspiring and new school business officials who want to expand their professional network, the release states.

Starmer's scholarship will go toward attending the ASBO International Annual Meeting and Expo in Boston from Oct. 25 through 28.

His "work ethic and dedication to this field demonstrate the quality of standards for emerging leaders," the release states.
