Local company accepts award from governor
Thermo Fisher Scientific Community Action Council (CAC) accepted the Corporate Business Service award on Oct. 21 at the 36th annual Governor’s Service Awards in Annapolis.
The CAC is an employee-led organization that promotes volunteering and STEM education outreach in Frederick County. The Governor’s Service Awards are granted in 14 categories recognizing excellence in Maryland.
Creme de la Creme hosts 19th birthday event
Creme de la Creme, the European home goods store, is celebrating its 19th birthday from Nov. 7 to Nov. 9. The Frederick location, alongside its Middleburg and Richmond locations in Virginia, will hold a celebration, and in-store promotions will be offered.
Various vendors, including Panier des Sens, 42Fdistribution and Vietri, will offer activities.
“I can’t believe it’s been 19 years," co-owner Tara Wegdam said in a press release. "We are grateful for all of our customers that continue to visit our stores, and we love interacting with our communities on a day-to-day basis.”
LaPadula promoted at Francis Scott Key Mall
Angela LaPadula has been named the new marketing coordinator at Francis Scott Key Mall.
As the marketing coordinator, LaPadula will implement public relations programs that will increase the mall's visibility and generate increased sales for its many retailers.
LaPadula is originally from Ithaca, New York, and is a graduate of Ithaca College. Most recently, she was the community business development manager at Barnes and Noble.
Legal & General America to raise money to combat student homelessness
Legal & General America’s location in Ijamsville will kick off a three-week charity drive to benefit the Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership of Frederick County (SHIP).
The Charitable Giving Campaign, run by an all-employee committee, consists of 30 events over the course of two weeks. The pledge week begins today with an all-employee kickoff meeting.
The charitable events will take place between Oct. 28 and Nov. 8. During last year’s fundraiser, the company raised nearly $1 million.
