Residents, contractors and commercial businesses can get single-, double- or triple-ground mulch on the next three Fridays free of charge at the county's landfill.

At the landfill at 9031 Reichs Ford Road, materials are screened, chipped and shredded to make an "even-textured, all natural, beautiful product," according to a news release.

The mulch is available in bulk from 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 16, 23 and 30, with assistance from staff. Residents can bring bags and shovels to receive smaller amounts.

The mulch is usually priced at $15 a ton, but is free while supplies last on those days, the release stated. For more information, call 301-600-2960.
