Gas prices

Motorists fill their fuel tanks Friday at Costco in Frederick.

Frederick gas prices are among the highest in the state, averaging $2.58 per gallon of regular unleaded, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Maryland’s state average was $2.55 per gallon, with the highest prices of $2.66 in the Washington, D.C., suburbs, and the lowest prices in Salisbury at $2.44.

Attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia on Sept. 14 helped drive gas prices up by double digits, at a time when lower oil prices and a drop in demand for gasoline after Labor Day traditionally brings prices down.

Frederick’s average price was 1 cent lower Friday than a week before, and up 11 cents from a month ago, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic’s records.

It's always good to have gas prices lower. Makes it so much cheaper to pollute the air and contribute to more global warming. Oh, I'm so excited!
