Father’s Day is this Sunday, and instead of getting him a pack of golf balls, a tie or a gift card to a big box store, change it up and head downtown.

Similar to Mother’s Day, I compiled a list of some stores downtown that you can visit to find dad a unique gift he can’t find anywhere else.

Whether he loves adventure, good music or simply appreciates something special, shop local for dad this Father’s Day.

Downtown offers more than five antique shops that offer hidden gems around every corner. Not only can you shop for dad in these shops, but what about an outing with him to go antiquing. You never know what you’ll find.

Antique shops;

  • Brass and Copper Shop, 13 S. Carroll Street
  • Cannon Hill Place Antiques, 111 S. Carroll Street
  • Emporium Antiques, 112 E. Patrick Street
  • Great Stuff by Paul, 10 N. Carroll Street
  • The Trading Post, 134 N. East Street

For the gamer dad, Brainstorm Comics, at 54 E. Patrick Street, has weekly comics, novels and gaming supplies. Head to Curious Iguana, at 12 N. Market Street, for getting dad the book of his liking.

For the dad who loves music, stop by Rock & Roll Graveyard at 115 E. Patrick Street. The store has more than 6,000 LPs in stock covering most genres in music such as rock, punk and metal.

Vinyl Acres, at 25 E. Patrick Street, also offers vinyl records, CDs, gifts and accessories. It also has a variety of books that covers stories of music history.

Get dad a signature chain or watch at Baltimore Gold of Frederick, at 110 N. Market Street, or Colonial Jewelers, at 1 S. Market Street.

For something unique, head to Art Collective, at 141 N Market Street, for a hand-crafted gift. Ec’clectibles, at 13 E. Patrick Street, has memorable gifts for any dad, no matter his style. Get dad a custom knife at Edgeworks Knife Knife & Supply Co., at 200 N. Market Street.

For the adventurist dad, head over to Embark Skateshop ,at 238B N. Market Street; Wheel Base, at 229 N. Market Street and ReCYCLE Bikes at 125 S. Carroll Street to get the perfect skate board or bike for his outdoor adventure.

Don’t forget to outfit dad when he plays outside. Hunting Creek Outfitters, at 29 N. Market Street, offers outdoor finds and high-end mens outdoor and clothing gear.

Head over to Quartermasters Cigars, 880 N. East Street, to pick up the perfect cigar dad can enjoy on a warm summer night.

Smoke Signals, at 328 N. Market Street, boasts hand pipes and smoke accessories and Willie’s Smoke Shop at 306 N. Market Street sells tobacco products and accessories.

For a rare coin, gold and silver, Frederick Coin Exchange offer that unique precious metal that dad will appreciate.

And if you still can’t find the perfect gift for dad, downtown also offers gift cards. Dads always like a spirit, so don’t forget about all of the breweries and distilleries as well!

Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there, and happy shopping to the rest of us!
