Brunswick transgender prom kng

Mark, a Brunswick High School transgender senior who asked that his last name not be published, was recently voted prom king.

A Brunswick High School teen joined the Frederick Uncut podcast this week to talk about being transgender in high school.

Mark, a senior at Brunswick who was recently voted prom king, opened up to host Colin McGuire and News-Post reporter Allen Etzler about the trans community at Brunswick High School.

Mark has experienced very different attitudes in school and at home in regards to his status as a trans person, he said. School has often been the place where he feels most like he can be himself.

In the coming weeks, Mark will continue the next step in his transition, and begin testosterone injections, which he will receive for the rest of his life, he said. Mark broke down the process of how a trans person gets testosterone, and expressed his excitement about growing facial hair.

Mark also talked about his prom king victory and mentioned that a student who originally walked out of prom after Mark won later apologized for his behavior.

For much of high school, Mark has been romantically involved with several partners. He talked about dating as a trans person, and said one of the first things he mentions to a potential partner is that he is transgender. Typically, the partner has been understanding and supportive and it hasn’t affected the relationship, he said.

Just lay off the therapy until your old enough to see what's really going on..doctors love indulging this for profit.

That is the most sensible post I have seen. There is absolutely no way that anyone can say, truthfully, that this is not science still in question. Who knows what the mental and physiological side effects will be:long term.

Hormone therapy is like "pain management" with opiods to me...another example of a doctor forsaking the Hippocratic oath. In fact, they shouldn't even take it anymore its become so meaningless.

Wonder who’s paying for HER treatment. And again, if you have a female that considers themselves a male but carries on with other females aren’t they really a lesbian? So confusing. Wonder what HER parents have to say.

No one reads this paper; he is fine.

stjohn42

And here we have three otherwise rational individuals compelled to put their two cents into something which is none of their business. Please go clutch your pearls elsewhere.

The decision to be transgender was made by God when she was born as are all gender and sexual preference decisions. Take your objections up with him/her. Leave the kid alone and accept her as she is as her peers have.

User1

Then don’t rub your lifestyle preference in my face. Keep it to yourself!

Nicki

User1- I bet you have publicly displayed your preference-- all your life-- without fear.
Just because it is not your preference does not make it wrong for someone else.
Live and let live.

phydeaux994

user1, DON'T READ IT!

CDReid

Going public with her story, especially in a newspaper, makes her susceptible to any and all opinions and comments that anyone who pays for a subscription for the privilege of posting comments here may have. And I think her willingness to show her face but not release her last name only demonstrates her confusion and lack of maturity. If she is so determined to be this "transgender" sort, why doesn't she stand up and defy anyone who may have an issue with it?

Nicki

Maybe because of adult bullies like you, Seedy.

CDReid

Oh, so just because I voice my opinion I'm a bully Nicki? Gee, I'm so very sorry that my opinion differs from yours, not that yours means anymore than mine does. And it never will.

Nicki

No, Seedy, my comment is based on the summation of all your past bullying comments. You belittle and bully other commenters on a daily basis.

phydeaux994

What makes you a bully CD are not your opinions but your responses to those who disagree with your opinions. Your attempts to degrade and humiliate those that differ with you is the problem. As the old saying goes "you can dish it out but you can't take it". Hey, I know somebody else that has that problem.

CDReid

Oh, I get it, Nicki and fido, my comments that you think and humiliate" others make me a bully, but the like comments I get from people like you, DFV, Samantha, Vladimir, etc. don't make them bullies? Have you ever noticed how the latter two in particular attack me when I've posted an opinion that they disagree with, no matter in what manner I do so? Yeah, sure, I'm a bully and no one else is; typical lib double standards and nothing but.

KellyAlzan

Nicki is correct. Totally correct.

rbtdt5

Phy and Nic, I agree with CD here, why not call out all the others that do what he does?

threecents

Picking on a kid. Dang, CD, I thought you were better than that.

phydeaux994

rb, I believe I have called you out as well as user1, jsk, gabriel, jerseygrl, veritas, tonyc, and others of the Conservative persuasion usually, and have been called out by each in turn. Goes with the territory. I just consider the source as I'm sure most everyone commenting here does. It's really pretty tame to what it was when I started in 2009 since they cracked down and started deleting stuff. Too much I think.

Fawned

Your comments make no sense and have no point [lol]

POORDOORME

I don't understand your point about revealing/not revealing his identity. You don't use a photo or full name here. How is that different?

rbtdt5

Not that I care about this one way or the other but CD has given his name here several times when asked.

Nicki

Seedy-- you are getting back what YOU started. Karma.

User1

CD, these people can’t help it when the truth hurts. I’m with you.

phydeaux994

Sorry stjohn, I agree with you. My comment was directed to the otherwise rational??? commenters.

Fawned

“Otherwise rational individuals” who are you talking about?!?!! [lol]

KellyAlzan

You go public, people will have opinions. It’s a given with social media. Welcome to 2018. Welcome to 2018...........

User1

If SHE wants to be in the FNP then it’s ALL our business. If SHE wants privacy then keep out of the papers! Can you understand that?

KellyAlzan

Too young for such decisions.

User1

Totally agree with you, but then you have the people that scream “but they have rights”. Wonder if “he’s” got two moms as parents?

CDReid

Good point, User, I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

KellyAlzan

Definitely does NOT have two moms. Unless you count maybe a step mom. If he has two moms, he’d be proud enough to publish the last name

shiftless88

People legally marry younger than that and plenty have children younger than that, especially historically and in the South. You claim is without basis.

jwhamann

Having several ‘partners’ gives the impression that the relationships were sexual.
